Warwick and District juniors backs RizeUp with league day

RUGBY LEAGUE: Eastern Suburbs, Collegians and Wattles clubs will host games in the Warwick and District Junior Rugby League RizeUp round on Saturday.

QRL operations manager Michael Jensen said the RizeUp charity provided practical assistance to victims of domestic violence.

"The charity helps to furnish and fill a home with basic essential items that families would normally need when moving into a bare home,” he said.

"RizeUp makes sure that homes families are moving into are complete with love and care from the community.

"The Warwick and District and Border Rugby League regions are getting behind a wonderful charity that is committed to breaking the cycle of domestic violence.”

This weekend will herald the second year that the QRL Central Division, local leagues and clubs have supported this wonderful charity.

The RizeUp round is not just about the clubs and league fraternity, the Warwick and District Junior Rugby League is seeking donated items from the community to be passed on to RizeUp. Wattles president Kaety Willett said the RizeUp round was "hugely important”.

"It is great to raise awareness about domestic violence and let people know they are not alone, it is something we should all talk about,” she said.

The Collegians club will set up a collection bin at their grounds on Saturday for the footy fraternity and members of the public to donate items to RizeUp.

Eastern Suburbs club is also involved in the efforts to help RizeUp and will be accepting donations at its home games against Tenterfield.

The Border Rugby League is also involved with week 2 of double headers from 1.30pm at Sullivan Oval. Inglewood will play Tenterfield in the President's Cup final in the early game and then Stanthorpe will host Killarney.
