Warwick athlete wins world silver in Bulgaria
ROWING: Warwick rower Harriet Hudson has won a silver medal in the World Championship Rowing under-23 women's quadruple sculls.
At age 19, she was the youngest in an Australian team which also included three 22-year-olds, Genevieve Horton, Rowena Meredith and Caitlin Cronin.
The team was timed at six minutes, 24.7 seconds in the final to win silver two seconds behind Great Britain. Germany was third almost a second behind Australia.
Hudson was one of only four rowers under the age of 20 among the 24 women in the final at Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
Last year, she represented Australia in the under-19 World Championships in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, where she was sixth in the A final of the junior women's single sculls.
She made her first Australian team last year after winning five gold medals at the national championships at the Sydney International Rowing Centre, Penrith.
Hudson has been a prolific state and national medallist since starting rowing at boarding school at Somerville House in Brisbane and won the Daily News/Warwick Credit Union Junior Sports Star of the Year award in 2014.
She now lives in Sydney and is a member of the Sydney Rowing Club.
