Warwick basketball comp heating up
BASKETBALL: Fresh on the back of the Warwick Wildcats successful season in the inaugural Big Q, organisers have looked to keep the momentum rolling with a new competition at WIRAC.
The gold competition commenced last week with four teams taking to the floor, however there is still time for keen participants to get involved.
Warwick Basketball regional co-ordinator Jay Clark said they were hoping to see as many faces as possible taking part.
"The gold competition had really good numbers, however there are always spots available,” Clark said.
"It's a matter of learning and keeping quality competition, so the younger generation can continue to learn.”
A number of key figures from the Wildcats will be present each Wednesday night, providing invaluable experience and knowledge.
Among those names is Josh Cremasco, who was the leading scorer for Warwick during the Big Q last year.
"Having Josh and Nick Quinn there will help to mentor and coach these younger players, and it is important for them to come through the system,” Clark said.
"Duncan McKenzie is also helping out, and he has played at a state level.
"We've had Landon Gempton and Sam Wall earn selection in a junior regional competition.
"Better competition will help them to progress and prepare for the Wildcats.”
Games are played at 6pm and 7pm each Wednesday at the WIRAC basketball courts.
