Be patient with the post: CEO
FLOODING across Queensland has severely affected Australia Post deliveries.
Pick-ups from post offices, post boxes and mail centres have been delayed, creating a significant backlog of mail across the state.
Australia Post Managing Director and CEO, Ahmed Fahour, asked for patience from customers across the country.
“Some facilities have been evacuated, and more than 50 post offices have closed,” he said.
Mail that has been sent but is unable to be delivered is currently being held at post offices and delivery facilities.
Mail coming from interstate will still be delivered where possible however lengthy displays should be expected.
Australia Post is encouraging people to visit www.auspost.com.au for updates as a customer contact centre located in Coronation Drive, Brisbane, has been evacuated and remains closed causing major delays on the customer feedback line.
Australia Post is also offering a free mail redirection for those unable to have mail delivered to their current address due to the floods.
The company has announced it will be donating $100,000 to the Premiers Flood Relief Appeal and has established an assistance fund for staff personally affected by the flood crisis.
