Warwick biggest kitchen is on the market
THREE years ago, Trish Roberts and her husband, Justin, set themselves a goal to renovate the Jackie Howe Conference Centre and turn it into a family restaurant.
Nowadays their project, Clippers Bar and Grill, is a thriving concern and the couple is looking for someone new to take it to the next level. They've listed the restaurant and its attached conference centre on the market.
"My hubby and I fitted it out three years ago, we leased it out but that didn't work out so I opened it up as Clippers Bar and Grill,” Mrs Roberts said.
While Clippers is only two years old, the building has long history as a dining establishment.
"People know is as the 'cook-your- own-steak' place, they had a big barbecue in the middle and a little butcher off to the side where you could buy your meat,” Mrs Roberts said.
These days it's a modern restaurant, decked out with wood panels and branded with the names of nearby sheep stations.
"It has the biggest kitchen in Warwick, it's even bigger than the hospital kitchen,” she said.
"It's a fully furnished, fully equipped kitchen with over $300,000 worth of plant and equipment.”
The couple want the business sold in six months so they can focus on renovating and managing their family farm. Mrs Roberts expects someone to snap it up soon.
"We've already had two people inquire and they are both couples where the husband or wife are a chef and they want to work together,” she said.
