Warwick boys ready to kick goals in Toowoomba juniors
FOOTBALL: The Warwick Wolves 16/17 years team will play their first game of the season against Gatton at Gatton at 2.30pm Saturday.
Wolves 16/17 years coach Peter Darton said the team had been training with the seniors for the past four weeks.
"The team includes four players from the Wolves team which won the colts premiership in Toowoomba last season,” Darton said.
"Bailey McDonald returns to the Wolves after playing for the South West Thunder last season.”
Last season, the colts competition catered for players from 15 to 18 years in seniors but Football Toowoomba has replaced Colts with a 16/17 years competition as part of their juniors.
Angus McKay will be the goalie after impressing in the role in the premier grade in Warwick junior football.
Darton has a squad of 12 and is hoping to increase numbers to 15.
Any prospective new players welcome to see Darton or association officials at Tuesday or Thursday night training at Queens Park from 6pm.
The Wolves 16/17 years games will be played on a Saturday afternoon in Warwick, Toowoomba, Highfields or Gatton.
All of the Warwick 16/17 years team are still eligible to play Warwick junior football on a Saturday morning. Football Toowoomba men's and women's senior fixtures will also start this weekend.
