Warwick businessmen band together for a good cause
A GROUP of Warwick business owners have banded together to make a difference for women everywhere.
Neskeen Escalante of Urban Mist Mobile Specialty Coffee is the brainchild behind the fundraiser and said he had felt it was time to give something back to the community.
"The business is going well and I have never done a fundraiser before and wanted to do something that was recognisable," he said.
"The National Breast Cancer Foundation was an obvious choice, it's symbol that everyone recognises.
"Breast cancer affects one in eight women and is the second highest cancer killer among women."
Mr Escalante began the fundraiser at the start of August along with Josh Grant of Stand Fast Electrical and Kori McTaggart from Hybrid Strength and Fitness.
"I decided to donate 10c from every coffee I sold during August and Kori said he would match that," he said.
"Josh came on board and said he would match whatever we raised.
"Our original goal was $1000 and today I'm pleased to say I sold a total of 2641 cups of coffee for a grand total of $1090 raised for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
"We'll be handing the money over this week."
Mr Escalante said they wanted to not only help out the wider community but also get our names out there.
"We've already begun planning our next fundraiser," he said.
"So be sure to buy a cup if you see me around town or on the weekend.
"I'm always trying to get to as many events as I can."
