Warwick cattle sale numbers up 27% after Australia Day break
THE yarding at the Warwick Cattle Sale has been given a boost, with numbers up 27% at yesterday's sale.
Numbers lifted by 27% compared to the sale of two weeks ago.
A fair panel of buyers covering all classes was present and operating.
Stronger restocker competition lifted prices on lightweight yearling steers.
Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed could not maintain the prices of two weeks ago and lost 8c to 14c/kg.
Export slaughter lines went against this trend and bullocks lifted in price by 10c and cows improved in price by 4c to 13c/kg.
Calves to restockers averaged 325c and made to 340.2c/kg.
A few vealer heifers made to 331.2c with most around 308c/kg.
Lightweight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged close to 347c and made to 391.2c/kg.
Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 319c and made to 332.2c/kg.
Heavyweights to feed mostly sold around 312c with some to 326.2c/kg.
Lightweight yearling heifers to feed averaged 314c and made to 330.2c/kg.
The largest number of medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 289c with a few pens reaching 310c/kg.
A fair sample of medium weights to the trade averaged 309c and made to 329.2c/kg.
Heavy grown steers averaged 284c and bullocks averaged 285c and made to 290.2c/kg.
Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 213c and made to 225.2c/kg.
A fair sample of good heavy cows made to a top of 256.2c to average 247c/kg.
Heavy bulls made to 257.2c/kg.
