Warwick coach to lead a national women's polocrosse team
POLOCROSSE: Warwick player Paul McGrath has been selected as coach of the Australian ladies polocrosse team to play South Africa at Morgan Park, Warwick, on April 21-23 next year.
McGrath will coach the ladies national team and Justin Hafey from the Tansey club will coach the men's Australian team against the South Africans.
Both were named along with two teams of seven after the national squad challenge between Green and Gold teams which put the best 28 players in the nation head-to-head.
Hayden Turnbull and Suzette Thomas has been selected as captains of the respective teams.
Turnbull is from Quirindi in New South Wales and Thomas from Western Australia.
Both captains played in the Australian mixed team which won the World Cup at Morgan Park in 2007 and a decade later have been honoured with the Australian captaincy for the series next year.
Thomas will be joined in the ladies team by one of her sisters Lizzie Lyster and five other players.
The two teams also include three Queensland players Lauren Sillitoe, Tom O'Neill and Trent Collins.
At the weekend, Green teams won all three men's series and Green won the ladies series 2-1.
Both Cunningham players Ryle Waugh and Steve Nolan went well in their first games at open squad level.
