Warwick drag racers rev it up

A WARWICK District Drag Racing Association contingent is at Willowbank this weekend for the Castrol Edge Winternationals.

The Winternationals is one of the biggest events on the drag racing calendar and is the meeting in which Chris Loy impressed a few years ago to win a Daily News/Warwick Loan Centre Senior Sports Star of the Month award.

The four-day meeting, which started on Thursday, has attracted 500 competitors. The ANDRA Pro Series Final round will also be held at Willowbank this weekend.

Last week, 82 juniors, including 31 from interstate, competed in a junior dragster meet at Willowbank in the run up to the Winternationals.

It seems there isn’t a lack of juniors wanting to take the sport ahead in leaps and bounds, which is great news for the future of the Warwick Dragway.
