Warwick driver getting accustomed to being at the front
MOTORSPORT: Warwick driver Matt Campbell is fastest qualifier for the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup round at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
Campbell set a time in qualifying almost a fifth of a second faster than the next best.
The race will be overnight Sunday, Australian time.
Campbell competed in the German Porsche Carrera Cup round last month for the Fach Auto Tech team on the Red Bull Ring where he recorded a first and third in a class in which he was the winner of the Australian version last year.
The Warwick driver is in Europe to predominately drive in the Supercup but his appearance on the Red Bull Ring in Austria last month in the Carrera Cup has boosted his confidence for a weekend of racing on the same track.
He has a third and two fifths in the first three rounds of the Supercup at Barcelona and Monaco this season so far and has the chance tonight to break through for his first win.
