Warwick driver will be in action at Bathurst this time next week

FULL credit to coach Paul Green for sticking to his North Queensland Cowboys 17 for the NRL grand final on Sunday.

It would have been easy to drop one of the stars of the past month to include Australian forward Matt Scott but he didn't go with a decision that must have been tempting.

Scott hasn't played for six months but some coaches would have very quickly dropped one of the lesser lights to bring back a big gun. Saying that, I should add Scott is a fantastic player and great asset to the sport and any club.

The toughest part for a coach is the final week of the season, not just the pressure of the game but who to leave out. Warwick Cowboys under-18 coach Matt Grew had the exact right number for this season's TRL grand final and I know he was grateful that who to select, or worse still, who to leave out, wasn't another consideration in grand final week.

Matt to Bathurst

WHILE not a motor racing fanatic, I watched the sport for the longest time in my life last year when Matt Campbell was driving in the Bathurst 1000.

A week from now, it will be on again and the young Warwick driver will be co-driving with Shane van Gisbergen and they are third favourites.

Anything can happen at Bathurst, and not only do the pair from one of the Red Bull Holden Racing teams want to win the greatest race in the nation; van Gisbergen needs the points badly for his standing in the series. Go Matt go, and as they say, just enjoy.
