Warwick East getting prepped for school's start
WARWICK East State School has introduced a pre-Prep program this year to help students and their families make a smooth transition into Prep in 2016.
The program is running each Friday 9am-11am and will be extended until 1pm as the children and families feel a sense of belonging.
Twenty-two students attended the first session on Friday and enjoyed a variety of activities such as reading, counting, cutting and pasting, singing, outside play, and music.
Students are being encouraged to follow routines and listen to adult instructions, all of which will help when the children start Prep next year.
Principal Marina Clarke said effective transition programs established positive relationships between the children, parents and educators.
"Families need to feel connected to the school, including the teacher, principal and support staff," she said.
"This is why we see this new program as a positive forward step into each of the children's future learning."
