Warwick gets national sidecar championship round

MOTORSPORT: Warwick has been allocated one of the four rounds of the sidecar national championships next year.

The Masters of Morgan Park will be on May 19-20.

The Australian F1 and F2 Sidecar National Championship will see competitors contest four challenging rounds, three of which will run alongside the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli (ASBK).

The hotly contested 2017 Championship saw F1 sidecar regulars Dave Boughen/Lok O'Kane claim victory, while Isle of Man superstars Mick Alton/Chrissie Clancy secured the F2 Sidecar Championship; and 2018 is shaping up to be just as competitive.

Kicking off the calendar in March, sidecar competitors will head to Wakefield Park Raceway for round 1, before making the trek to Morgan Park in Queensland with the Masters of Morgan Park, round 3 will see sidecars come back down to Victoria for round 3 in Winton with ASBK. The grand final round to take place at the world renowned Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, also with ASBK.

Program

. Round 1: 16-18 March Wakefield Park with ASBK

. Round 2: 19-20 May Morgan Park with Masters of Morgan Park

. Round 3: 7-9 September Winton with ASBK

. Round 4: 12-14 October Phillip Island with ASBK
