Warwick Golf Club plans opening day on Sunday

GOLF: Sunday is opening day at the Warwick Golf Club and officials are hoping for a large field.

The event will start with a shotgun start at noon. Bookings can be made at the pro shop or players can turn up on the day to be registered well before noon.

Opening day traditionally heralds the start of more serious competitions for the men and women after the end of the holiday period.

Prospective new members welcome to the four ball, best ball medley stableford event.

Cost for Sunday is $15 for club members or $30 for non members.

Aussie Day

THE club had an Australia Day event last week which was sponsored by Warwick Real Estate and attracted a field of 92 players.

The two ball ambrose was won by Gordon Barker and Dave Speedy with 60 nett. Charlie and Kath Morrison were runners up on 60.5.

Ellie Casey and Jill Barnes won the women's prize while Garry Adcock and Judy Lester won the prizes for best dressed on a day where an Australian theme was to the forefront. The club flew its new Australian flag which was presented last month by Member for Maranoa David Littleproud.
