Riders vie for spots

THE Warwick Hack and Pony Club area might represent less than one per cent of the Queensland population but its members comprise almost half the riders short-listed in state mounted games squads.

Warwick had six of the 14 members short-listed for the squads and Killarney one.

Selena Madsen, Ben Eastwell, Callum Miller and Tim Burraston are the four from the Warwick club short-listed for the junior team, along with Nathan Brown, of Killarney.

Warwick members Tim Eastwell and Tamara Bondfield may make the Queensland senior team.

Already this year, Burraston has represented Queensland in national mounted games selection trials in Melbourne and Bondfield was the Queensland junior team chaperone for a trip to Victoria.

The group of seven will travel to Kilcoy this weekend for another training/selection weekend.

A junior team of five, to contest the nationals in Queensland later this year, will be named after the Kilcoy weekend .

The senior riders have two training weekends left to impress selectors before the state mounted games team is finalised.
