Warwick hockey teams gear up for Saturday semis
WANT to see some of the best hockey of the Warwick season?
Then head to Queens Park tomorrow.
Minkeys will start a major day of Warwick hockey at 9am with their regular coaching and games on the turf. Rules are modified for minkeys and games are on a field less than half the regular size.
Junior semis will be played in W2 at 10am between Yellow and Black for the right to play Green in the September 3 grand final. Green and Blue will play a friendly on grass at 10am.
In the W1 junior grade, Blue and Green will play at 11.15am with the winner playing Black a week later in the grand final. There will also be friendlies on W1.
The senior semi-finals will be played late tomorrow with fans welcome to watch from the clubhouse or the balcony and use all club facilities.
The first senior game will be the ladies match at 5pm between Corinthians/Wyverns and Harlequins while the men's game will be at 6.30pm between Corinthians and Harlequins.
Some Queensland underage and masters players are involved in the finals series, including Corinthians legend Rob Pohlman.
The winners of the semi-finals will play Saints (ladies) and Wyverns (men) in the grand finals on September 3.
SATURDAY JUNIOR PROGRAM:
9am - 10am - Minkeys as normal
10 - 11am - Turf - W2 2 Yellow V 3 Black - Semi final - Winner of this game will advance through to the Grand Final playing against Green
- Grass - W2 1 Green V 4 Blue - Green is straight through to the final due to their win last week. This game is a scratch match.
11.15 - W1 - 2 Blue V 3 Green - Semi-final - Winner of this game will advance through to the Grand Final playing against Black.
