Warwick Hospital's 2018 first born makes early appearance
AFTER a much-anticipated wait, Warwick Hospital finally welcomed its first addition for the new year.
Johnathan Patterson came into the world at 4.59am on Monday, January 8, giving Inglewood couple Caleb and Catherine their first child.
He officially took the title of the hospital's first-born for 2018, however it wasn't meant to be the case.
"His due date was the 21st of January, but he was having none of that,” Catherine said.
"Contractions started at about 12.30am, and we went to Inglewood Hospital to make sure everything was alright, before being transported to Warwick.
"He has been a good sleeper so far. He got six hours, and we had to wake him to have some food.
"He has been sleeping through his tests as well.”
They haven't been short of visitors, with family members meeting their new relative for the first time.
"My aunty lives in Warwick, so she came down on Monday, and my Dad has come from Tenterfield.
"The other half of the family will come today.”
Warwick Hospital midwife Ross Newton said young Johnathan brought a ray of sunshine into the Hanlon Ward on a Monday morning.
"It was a nice way to start off a Monday,” he said.
"Mum, bub and Dad are all doing well, which is our main concern after going through it.
"It was a longish wait for the first, but we made it, and hopefully there will be many more to follow.”
