Warwick Hotel Colts pair have batting feast at Slade Park

CRICKET: Two former Wheatvale State School students made 178 runs between them in a Warwick Hotel Colts T20 cricket win against Sovereign Animals at Slade Park on Saturday.

John Cleary, who scored 104, is from Greymare and Shaun "Robbo” O'Leary originally from Wheatvale and they came together after Lachlan Gross was dismissed for 14.

Cleary and O'Leary added 124 for the second wicket, one of the largest partnerships of the T20 season. O'Leary finished with 74.

Colts made 7-234 and dismissed Sovereign for 105. Cahal Davis batted best to score 21 not out.

First cousins, medium pacer Ben Gross (2-5) and off spinner Alastair Costello (2-11) took the new ball for Colts as O'Leary gave nine of his bowlers two overs each and two bowlers one over.

O'Leary was the most economical with 2-1 off two overs of leg spin.
