Warwick local on the road to something special
BRITTANY Keogh's streak of Warwick Show attendance is matched only by her enthusiasm for the rural industry.
It's why she is throwing her hat in the ring to take home the inaugural Junior Rural Ambassador title at this year's Show.
Her involvement over the years has spanned as an attendee, through to showing cattle, and is one the 18-year-old is hoping to continue into the future.
"I attended my first Warwick Show when I was one, and I don't think I've missed one since,” Brittany said.
"It's really good being a local because your mates are always there.
"I was an associate judge for the beef section and was able to get more inside knowledge on the judges and what they say.
"The best thing is entering and being able to enjoy a great experience working alongside the senior Rural Ambassador, and hopefully be able to step into that role eventually.
"I hope to gain more experience and help the committee out as much as I can.
"I'm good friends with Shelly Doyle (2016 Rural Ambassador). I've been talking to her, and it's something I'd like to get involved with.”
Brittany is undertaking studies at Gatton, where she is completing a dual degree in agricultural business and sustainable agriculture, majoring in livestock production.
"I decided four or five years ago I wanted to do agricultural business,” she said. "I love the industry, and sustainable agriculture is going to become a big part of the future.”
"I really love to be a part of any part of the cattle industry.
"Eventually down the track my ultimate goal is to have my own beef enterprise and become a supplier.”
