Warwick Uber Markets get update ahead of farmers feast

THE Warwick Uber Markets will be getting a fresh new upgrade as local producers join them this Saturday for the first Seasonal Feast Farmers Market.

Helen Lewis of Picots Farms said the Southern Queensland Country Regional Food Network had been working with Southern Downs growers and the Warwick Working Group to present the monthly farmers market.

She said a regular produce market would be a tourism drawcard for the Rose City while allowing residents to get to know the people who grow their food and invest in the local economy.

"We've been looking to start a market on alongside the Uber Markets at Leslie Park," Mrs Lewis said.

"It will be a local producer market with meats, fruits and veggies where we'll be replicating what they do in Stanthorpe.

"Down there they have a market every week on Friday afternoons and so this is really just to expand that idea into this area."

The markets will host an array of produce including in-season Granite Belt stone fruit, honey, Auntie Bads beautiful relishes and jams, Kialla flour, strawberries and boysenberries, and Kelvin Family Falls free range eggs.
