Mum to raise friend's kids after shock diagnosis
JUST nine weeks ago, a 39-year-old mother from Warwick found out she may not be here to celebrate Christmas with her children.
Stacey was diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma cancer, which is formed from asbestos and has no known cure or treatment.
The mother-of-five will be forced to say goodbye to three children when she passes away, a 10-year-old boy, three girls aged 16, 15 and 13 as well as an independent son.
When she goes, an extremely generous and selfless friend has offered to raise her children in her own home.
Suzette is also a single mother of two who visits the hospital with the children every day and plans house both families in her own three-bedroom home.
Now their friend, Rebecca Moore, is calling out to the Warwick community for help through a GoFundMe campaign to support both families through this tough time and the road ahead.
Just under $2000 has already been raised after just one day, with an ultimate goal of $100,000.
Ms Moore explained the money would be used to extend Suzette's current home or purchase a new one to better accommodate the families.
According to Ms Moore, Suzette has already been sleeping on the couch in order to provide a bed for two of the young girls.
"Suzette is well known for her kind heart and generosity, she will give you her last dollar even if it means she goes without," Ms Moore said.
"She is a single mother with two children of her own, pays a mortgage, works full time and also runs a small dance school that is based on building confidence in children and enables them to express themselves through music.
"Your donation to this cause would be greatly appreciated and would certainly assist the lives of two worthy families combining to one."
