Warwick narrowly misses final in hockey
HOCKEY: Warwick has missed the final of division 2 at the Queensland under-13 hockey championships at Buderim on goal average.
This afternoon, Warwick played Tweed Border and drew 1-all when a win would have guaranteed a final berth.
Jack Hill scored against Tweed Border and was one of the best for Warwick along with Will Denny in defence.
Coach Phil Rolfe said he had been impressed with the form of every player in the team.
“We have played six games for three wins, a draw and two losses,” Rolfe said.
Warwick will play Bundaberg for third place at 9.35am tomorrow.
In girls hockey at Hervey Bay, Warwick drew 0-all with Cairns 3 and lost 1-0 to Sunshine Coast 2 in two turf games.
Both games were hotly contested and coach Alan Balfour was especially impressed with the strong stick work from captain Kyla Barrett against Sunshine Coast.
The competition finishes tomorrow with the Warwick girls having a 7am game against Redlands and a 1.30pm game against Gold Coast 2.
