Warwick paceman in squad for Big Bash game in Perth
CRICKET: Warwick paceman Mark Steketee is in the 14-man Brisbane Heat squad in Perth for tonight's T20 BBL game against the Perth Scorchers at the Furnace at 6.10pm.
After three outstanding bowling performances, Steketee bowled his most expensive spell of the tournament when he ended with figures of 0-45 off three overs in a three-wicket Heat loss to the Sydney Sixes on Tuesday night at the Gabba.
He was hit for successive sixes by former Australian wicketkeeper Brad Haddin from the first two balls of his third over.
The Heat has included 18-year-old Gold Coast pace bowler Xavier Bartlett in its squad for the game in Perth.
The KFC Big Bash League Technical Committee has approved the change to the Heat's squad, with Bartlett replacing fellow quick Luke Feldman who has been ruled out with a side strain suffered while playing in the Super Smash T20 match in New Zealand.
Replacement players must play in the starting XI or be selected as twelfth man for their next BBL match.
Feldman will be able to resume his place in the squad should he become available again.
Leg-spinner Samuel Badree will not travel to Perth and instead undergo an assessment and MRI scan on a hamstring injury.
Batsman Chris Lynn, who jarred his left shoulder while fielding on Tuesday night, has been included in the squad, along with fellow batsmen Marnus Labuschagne and Nathan Reardon.
Heat physiotherapist Martin Love said Lynn had been sore when he came off the field after diving to attempt a catch and as a precaution did not return for the remainder of the innings.
"We'll see how he is feeling when we get to Perth but hopefully it settles down quickly,'' he said.
"Samuel will have a scan as soon as possible and we will assess him then.”
