Warwick paceman set for Tuesday night game at Gabba
CRICKET: Warwick paceman Mark Steketee is set to play his fourth successive T20 game this season as the unbeaten Brisbane Heat host Sydney Sixers at the Gabba in the KFC Big Bash League tomorrow night.
The Heat trained at the Gabba at 10am today in the wake of their strong win over the Hobart Hurricanes before a sell-out crowd at the Gabba last week.
Brisbane will then fly to Perth on Wednesday morning ahead of Thursday night's crunch match against perennial finalists the Perth Scorchers at The Furnace.
Steketee has six wickets in three games for the Heat and together with medium pacer Jack Wildermuth, who has four wickets in two games, are two of the young guns impressing with the ball.
Meanwhile the WBBL Brisbane Heat went down by three runs in the first of two games against the Sydney Thunder at Blacktown today.
Batting first, the Thunder made 8-132 with captain and Warwick all-rounder Delissa Kimmince taking 1-31 off four overs.
In reply, Brisbane scored 9-129 with Kimmince dismissed for one. Going into the last over, the Heat needed 12 runs to win off six balls.
The Heat women will play the Thunder tomorrow at Blacktown before taking on the front-running Hobart Hurricanes in Hobart on January 8 and 9.
