Warwick pair score goals in national hockey in Adelaide
HOCKEY: Warwick pair Matt Hagenbach and Adam Byrne have each scored a goal for Queensland 1 in the over 35s hockey nationals in Adelaide.
Hagenbach is playing as a striker and scored a goal in the 2-1 win against Victoria on Saturday.
Yesterday, both Hagenbach and Byrne scored goals in a 5-1 win against Western Australia.
Amazingly Byrne scored a field goal despite playing in a defensive position.
Both are in the Queensland 1 team to play ACT early this afternoon.
Tomorrow is a rest day and then Queensland play New South Wales on Wednesday and South Australia on Thursday.
Friday is another rest day and on Saturday semis will be played. Finals are on Sunday.
A national team will be named but neither Warwick-based player has nominated. Byrne made the Australian team last year.
The Queensland team also includes two Redcliffe-based players, Luke Forte and Peter Sommers, who were part of the Warwick team which won this year's state championships.
Warwick players Peter Andrews and Rob Pohlman are also in Queensland teams playing age group hockey in Adelaide this week.
