CRICKET: Warwick cricketer Delissa Kimmince has been called up to play for the Australian Southern Stars team in the three T20 Ashes games against England.
The 50-over games and Ashes Test have been completed and the Southern Stars need one win in the final three T20 games to win the Ashes series.
This will be the first series in Australian colours for Kimmince since 2014. She was part of the winning T20 World Cup team in Bangladesh in 2013.
The first T20 game between the two teams will be at North Sydney Oval on Friday at 7pm. The second and third games are at Manuka Oval in Canberra at 2.35pm Sunday and 7.10pm Tuesday next week.
Kimmince was selected for the T20 segment of the last Ashes tour to England but withdrew with a back injury.
She has since captained the Queensland Fire and Brisbane Heat and made her WAFL debut with the Brisbane Lions.
Her father and first coach in Warwick Peter Kimmince said he was delighted his daughter was back in the national team.
"She has been playing some good cricket lately, her mother Suellen and I are wrapped.
"It is a bit late to arrange time off to watch the games but we will be glued to the screen at home at Bunbury in Western Australia.”
