Warwick player leads Brisbane team to Perth win

CRICKET: Delissa Kimmince returned figures Richie Benaud would have been happy with to help the Brisbane Heat head into Christmas on the back of a Women's Big Bash League victory.

The Heat went west at the weekend for a double-header against the Perth Scorchers and split the two matches.

Perth won the opening game by eight wickets yesterday before the Heat turned the tables today.

The Warwick all-rounder Kimmince led from the front with the ball as she took 2-22 from four overs to help the Heat restrict the Scorchers to a modest score of 9-94 from their 20 overs.

Kimmince was then at the crease as the Heat brought up the winning runs in the 13th over with eight wickets in hand.

Opener Beth Mooney carried the run chase as she scored 67 not out from 46 balls, including 12 fours.

Meanwhile, Warwick paceman Mark Steketee helped the Brisbane Heat men's squad warm up for the Big Bash League with two wins over Hobart at the Sunshine Coast.

The Heat men travel to Adelaide to take on the Strikers in their first game on Wednesday.
