Warwick players are long-term Maroons selections

TOUCH RUGBY: Peter Grayson and Dave Farlow have represented Queensland in a total of 27 state teams.

Grayson, who hails from Emu Vale, has played for Queensland since the early 2000s and made 13 Australian teams in various age groups.

This year's nationals in Coffs Harbour were his 15th for Queensland.

"It is a great way to stay fit,” he said.

Farlow has played for Queensland each year from 2007 and made Australian teams on eight occasions. Before that he refereed for eight years at the nationals.

"Touch rugby is a great family sport, I train each Sunday in a squad with Peter's sons Max and Nicholas and anyone else who wants to come along at 3.30pm to the touch fields,” he said.

As there is no Australian team for Grayson and Farlowthis year (because New Zealand did not field a team in that age group), the long years of continuous Australian representation will be broken.

Both will play in the Pan Pacific Games in November at the Gold Coast.

Farlow and Grayson are also on the club committee

Warwick will still be represented at national level as Cahal Davis and Mitchell Lollback have both been named in the Australian open men's team to play in Auckland, New Zealand, in October.

The Warwick players went to trials this year at Laidley where eight from Warwick were selected in state teams to play the Blues.

Sign up for touch

THERE are 44 team nominations so far for the new season of Warwick touch.

The sign-on last Wednesday was a great success but the association would like two more teams to take numbers to 46.

Games are played at 6.30pm and 7.30pm each Wednesday except during school holidays.

More players welcome to register from 6pm Wednesday at touch clubhouse in Jackie Howe Dr. The committee can be contacted on Warwick Touch Facebook page.
