Cops impressed by good behaviour at New Year celebrations

WARWICK police officers had little need for their handcuffs this New Year's Eve with the majority of Rose City partygoers bringing in the New Year peacefully.

Warwick acting officer-in-charge Shane Reid said he was impressed with the community's behaviour.

"Overall everyone was very well behaved," acting senior sergeant Reid said.

"We had no major incidents or problems."

Acting Snr Sgt Reid said a couple of people were arrested but not for anything major.

"Two or three people were arrested for minor street offences but there were no assaults on police or anything like that," he said.

Extra police were rostered on and worked through to 4am yesterday in Warwick.

Acting Snr Sgt Reid said Warwick police also provided extra support at the Yangan rodeo.

"We had no issues out there either, the community was really well behaved," he said.

A spokesman from the Stanthorpe police also said no major incidents were reported during New Year's Eve.
