Warwick pups win on the biggest stage of all
WARWICK businesswoman Robyn Gersbach has a passion for hair and beauty, but away from work it's all about the dogs.
Mrs Gersbach and brother Darrell Wheeler have recently returned from a week on the road showing their prized dachshunds at three of Australia's most prestigious shows.
Not only did they make the trip, they cleaned up, taking out multiple champion placings.
"It's been simply unbelievable," Mrs Gersbach said.
"Just unreal, we've stepped onto the biggest stages at the biggest events and won.
It's by far the best we've ever done and I'm ecstatic with all the success.
"The news has gone all over the world in the dog world and the amount of messages we've been receiving is fantastic."
Owner of Grafton St's Salon@72, Mrs Gersbach said she had grown up around dachshunds.
"I was born into that life, but I've only starting showing the dogs myself in the past 10 years or so," she said.
"This turned out to be a phenomenal trip and our dogs and their bloodline is in high demand now.
"People are chasing what we've got."
Mrs Gersbach and Mr Wheeler travelled to the Sydney Royal show over Easter before heading on to the Australian Dachshund Nationals and the Novacastrian Dachshund Speciality Show.
For the third year in a row at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, their dog Ch. Boskahun Hugo Boss won best of breed, also taking out the challenge dog prize.
This dog also won the same awards at the Novacastrian Dachshund Speciality Show.
Their new imported dog from the US, American Grand Champion Joy-Dens Rockin Robin was runner up Best of Breed and reserve challenge dog and also took out first place at both the Australian Dachshund Nationals and the Novacastrian Dachshund Speciality Shows.
Four of the couples other dogs also took out first placings at the Sydney show, with Gersndach Quintessential taking out best baby puppy of breed and miniature dachshund Gersndach Das Romance taking out challenge bitch and runner up best of breed.
At the Australian Dachshund Nationals, in a baby puppy class of 31 entries, the couple took out first, second and fifth place with two other dogs short-listed.
"It was an absolutely cracking show circuit," Mrs Gersbach said.
"I was surprised to do so well but on the other hand I wasn't because we've put so much time and effort into this and we work with the very best stock."
