Warwick rider stars at record Killarney Rodeo
RODEO: The 2016 Killarney Rodeo has been rated the best on record by Killarney Show and Rodeo Society president Jan Hamilton.
"We had a crowd of 400 in addition to the riders, which was capacity for our arena,” Hamilton said.
"The rodeo went to 8.30pm Saturday as scheduled and we then had entertainment until after 11pm.”
The event was for points in the National Rodeo Association and current all around leader Mitchell Eastwell, from Warwick, boosted his title chances with a win in the steer wrestling and second in the rope and tie. Warwick rider Josh Green was third in rope and tie.
Warwick cowboy Graham Berghero and Thomas Whitwell, from Mt Tarampa, were victorious in team roping. Kyle Hamilton was another Southern Downs winner with a first place in the junior bull ride
Other winners included Matt Goodwin (open bull ride), Joel Hill (saddle bronc), Kylie Siebenhausen (breakaway roping and barrel race), Britnee Stapleton (U18 barrel race), Brendan Zapper (bareback), Luke Gall (rope and tie), Montana Hart (U18 breakaway) and Cooper Jones (junior steer ride)
Toowoomba cowboy Ben Palmer won the Down Under Bucking Bulls new season classic bull ride on Sunday morning at the Killarney Showgrounds.
