Warwick riders rake in places at Mt Isa Rotary Rodeo

RODEO: Warwick roper Brock Eastwell has finished second in rope and tie in only his second appearance in the Mt Isa Rotary Rodeo.

Going into the Mt Isa rodeo, he was in 10th place in Australian Professional Rodeo Association standings and expects to be around fifth when the new standings come out.

The top 15 qualify for the Warwick Rodeo APRA National Finals on October 24-27.

He was second in round one at Mt Isa with a time of 11.2 seconds and second in round 2 with 12.65 to finish second in the aggregate, .6 of a point behind winner Campbell Hodson of Emerald.

Brock rode Memphis, a horse owned by his brother Mitch.

"I had a good first run with Memphis in the first round and then didn't have to make up much time in the second round,” he said.

It was only his second time at Mt Isa after coming fourth in the rope and tie two years ago.

His mother Julie Small split third in round one of breakaway roping in her first appearance at Mt Isa.

"I was really proud with how Mum went as she was in a field of 70,” he said.

Warwick rider Jeff Miller joined with Mark Gibb, of Charters Towers, to come second in over 55s team roping.

Hodson and Ellysa Kenny were the all around Mt Isa winners.
