Warwick senior hockey moves to midweek
HOCKEY: Rosie Corney is upbeat about the move of senior hockey to midweek time slots for the 2017 season.
In recent years, men and ladies senior hockey has been played on a Saturday.
The association secretary said the majority of players wanted the midweek games.
"Playing midweek will enable us to play more games during the season,” she said.
Senior mixed fixtures start tonight at 6pm. The first round of weekly ladies games will be tomorrow night and the start of the men's fixture season will be on Thursday night.
"Mixed teams will be formed this month and we ask all prospective players to come to the mixed muster tonight to register and play some fun games,” Corney said.
This week is round 1 of ladies and men's hockey but some clubs are seeking additional players.

WARWICK junior hockey will start on Saturday at Queens Park.
Association secretary Rosie Corney said the association had adopted the National Hookin2Hockey program for the youngest age group (minkeys) for players from four to seven years of age, depending on the level of skill.
"W2 (7-10 years) and W1 (11-14 years) competitions will be played to allow juniors to further their skills with training with their team and coaching each Saturday before games,” Corney said.
Players can join Saturday morning at Queens Park or email warwickjuniorhockey @hotmail.com.
