Warwick shooting bonanza

WARWICK Clay Target Club members filled three of the placings in the Olympic trap discipline at the Queensland championships at Belmont at the weekend.

Dan Johnson won the men’s open state championship from runner up Kevin Perkins of Hervey Bay.

Warwick shooter Greg Newey was third.

The win by Johnson was his first state title in Olympic trap.

In the women’s event, Jennine Gerrard from the Warwick club won the Olympic trap event for the first time.

The placegetters in each event have been selected in the Queensland team to compete in the nationals in Perth next year. They have all represented Queensland in the past.

The championships attracted 60 competitors from as far as Normanton in North Queensland and a strong contingent from the western region, including Surat.
