THE Warwick Show gives the Rose City another chance to shine and already the show society is seeking its next showgirls.

Next year's show, being held on March 23, 24 and 25, marks its 145th year and treasurer Michelle Hanigan said it's going to be bigger and better than ever before.

"We're really excited - we're still finalising the program but it'll include some brand new events," she said.

The show coincides with The Australian Year of the Farmer, which celebrates the work of producers, processors, handlers and manufacturers from 136,000 farms across the country.

The concept was conceived by Australian Year of the Farmer directors, Geoff Bell and Philip Bruemm who wanted people to appreciate the fresh food and quality materials farmers produce to keep us fed, clothed and sheltered.

During 2012, nine state-of-the art roadshow vehicles will tour the country to showcase Australian farming.

The semi trailer and four wheel drives with trailers have been set up to entertain and educate rural and urban Australians.

They have interactive displays, static displays and a wealth of information and truckloads of fun activities for all ages.

During its 12-month tour, the Australian Year of the Farmer Roadshow will travel more than 55,000km to attend 300 event days across all states and territories - including the 2012 Warwick Show.

The Warwick Show Society is now chasing nominations for the 2012 Showgirl.

Last year's winner, Katie Kinlyside, said she entered to do something different.

"I wanted to help out the show society and do something I'd never done before," she said.

"It was such a great experience and I got to meet heaps of new people.

"As an entrant you're required to help out the show society with fundraising and attend the ball, as well as the show," she said.

"It's a really wonderful thing to do for Warwick and it helps you develop confidence.

"I really enjoyed it and I can't believe a year has gone

"In just a few months time I'll be handing over the reins to the next showgirl," she said.

Nominations for the 2012 Showgirl will be taken at the Warwick Show Society, from January 10 onwards.
