Warwick students to Yeppoon for junior rodeo events

RODEO: Eight students will travel to Yeppoon as part of the Warwick High Schools Rodeo team for tomorrow's St Brendan's Rodeo.

Warwick High will be represented by Nikki Burraston (barrel race and breakaway roping) and Savannah Halley (barrel race).

Scots PGC students Eliza Johnstone (barrel race) and Arne Thornberry (saddle bronc and steer ride) will compete at Yeppoon.

Assumption will be represented by Tyler Aspinall (barrel race and steer ride) Willem Boyce (breakaway roping) Kobe Miller (breakaway roping) and Latisha Murphy (barrel race).

All eight are set to be part of the action at the Warwick Junior Rodeo at the Warwick Showgrounds on September 9.

The rodeo is a championships points rodeo in the Australian Professional Rodeo Association so the juniors will have the chance to win prizemoney and boost their chances of qualifying for next year's APRA junior finals in July at Emerald.

The Warwick High Schools Rodeo team raised all the sponsorship for the September 9 Warwick Junior Rodeo and will help run the event.

The rodeo starts at 1pm and riders will travel from as far as Taroom and Roma. Entries to APRA on 46614766. Organisers are hoping to make the Warwick Junior Rodeo an annual event. Gold coin entry for adults, juniors free.
