Warwick swelters through hottest June day on record

WARWICK has sweltered through its hottest June day on record today, with the mercury peaking at 27.3 degrees just after 3pm.

The recording beats the old record by a degree.

According to Bureau of Meteorology statistics, the hottest temperature recorded in Warwick during June was 26.3 degrees on June 16, 2002.

Temperature records also fell in other parts of the Southern Downs.

In Applethorpe, the old record from 2005 was broken by 0.5 degrees, with the mercury climbing to 22.5 degrees just before 12.30pm.

Temperatures are expected to drop back to below 20 degrees tomorrow.
