Thunderstorms and much-needed rain coming
AN UNSTABLE atmosphere could deliver some much needed rain and a few afternoon thunderstorms to Warwick this weekend.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Janine Yuasa said it was hard to predict just how much rain would fall.
"There is a chance in any storm that you will see some heavy rainfalls," she said.
"But it is hard to predict where exactly it will fall.
"I estimate about 10mm of rain (today) and (tomorrow).
"However it could be less or it could be a lot more."
The storms are most likely to occur in the afternoons and evenings with scattered showers during the day.
Temperatures are expected to reach 29 degrees today and a top of 31 tomorrow.
Ms Yuasa said the winds could pick up during the storm but would be light during the day.
Rain is expected to hang around into next week with it being heaviest on Tuesday and Wednesday.
There has been a total of 3.6mm of rain this month.
The long term average for December is 116mm.
The UV index is expected to be extreme this weekend so despite the cloud cover it is still important to slip, slop, slap if heading outdoors.
