Warwick trio place in Round 2 at home

HORSEPOWER with Gerard Walsh

MATT Clift, Kevin Heffernan and Chris Hatfield were the Warwick placegetters in Round 2 of the Queensland Motor Racing Championships at Morgan Park.

Clift was second and Heffernan third in the historic touring car class at the weekend.

Heffernan, who now works in Warwick, has raced at Bathurst in Australia’s greatest event in motorsport.

Later this year, Matt Campbell will drive with Todd Kelly for Nissan in the Bathurst 1000.

Class winners in the championships were David Waldon, Cam Bartholomew, Colin Selby-Adams, John Carter, Paul Kellaway, Robert Gooley, Luke Brown, Bub Sudall, Graham Lusty and Nick Rangeley.

Rodeo action heads north next week

THERE will be several competitors from southern Queensland heading to the Bowen River rodeos in north Queensland next weekend.

It is rare in the APRA to have separate rodeos on successive days but that happens at Bowen River and gives riders two chances to win money on one weekend. Last year, Warwick rider Michael Maher won one of the saddle bronc rides.
