Warwick wakes to the welcomed sight of rain-soaked roads
THE calming sound of rain falling on the roof sent Warwick residents off to sleep last night as desperately needed showers pelted down on the city.
Warwick recorded a total of 8.2mm of rain from 9am yesterday, with most of the rain falling between 6pm and midnight.
But total varied around the city, with a gauge at Scots PGC College recording a total of 12mm.
Stanthorpe received slightly more rain, with a total of 23mm falling between 3pm and midnight yesterday.
Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Jess Gardner said patchy rain and storms were moving across the state.
"We've got an upper trough moving over Queensland combined with a surface trough, and that's combine with some moisture in the atmosphere,” she said.
Ms Gardner said there was a possibility of more patchy rain and thunderstorms in Warwick today.
"That upper trough is slowly making its way, we expect it to move off the coast either tonight or early tomorrow,” she said.
"Rain will be a bit more widespread but there'll be less of it.”
Despite the rain, temperatures are expected to be warmer than the average maximum of 18 degrees in Warwick this week.
Warwick is predicted to reach a top of 18 degrees today before warming up to 20 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday.
