Warwick Water Rats seek rugby win over Cods
RUGBY UNION: Vlad Savovski and his brother Anthony are in town to play finals footy with the Water Water Rats and see Saturday’s game against Condamine at Condamine as crucial to the team’s hopes.
After a strong start to the season, the Warwick B-grade side has lost to Bears and Goondiwindi in successive games. The Rats are fifth in a competition where the top-five play finals footy.
“We really want to qualify for the finals,” he said.
The Savovski brothers came to Warwick to play and coach rugby and work on a farm.
“We have found it really good in Warwick,” he said.
Vlad Savovski and Craig Pettiford are the Warwick props and Anthony Savovski the hooker.
“Craig is a strong scrumager and a key lifter in the lineout,” he said.
“We can match any team in the forwards.”
As for the young backs, Vlad said fullback Josh Sharman had been one of the most consistent in 2016.
