Warwick wedding industry reacts to SSM news

THIS week's historic legislating of the marriage equality bill has been met with enthusiasm and positivity from those within the Warwick wedding industry.

Abbey of the Roses owner Sonia Carr said she was all for it.

"It absolutely needed to happen,” she said.

"I'm actually just on our website at the moment, adding a special promotion for same-sex couples and offering our congratulations on the historic vote.

"We want to get it out there that the Abbey is for anyone who is thinking of getting married.”

Lynn Bryson said in her 35 years as a florist in Warwick , she had never cared what people do in the privacy of their own homes.

"We're here to make people's special day even more special and that's exactly what we'll continue to do,” she said.

Civil marriage celebrant Gem Symon said she'd already changed all her legal ceremonial wording.

"This morning it changed from 'man and woman' to 'two persons',” she said.

"So I'm ready to go, and perfectly happy to do it - it doesn't matter who you are I'd be more than happy to perform your ceremony.”
