Warwick welcomes junior tennis stars for tournament

SOME of the top junior tennis players in Australia will converge on the Rose City for a tennis tournament this weekend.   Players from across Queensland and interstate will show off their tennis skills from 8am tomorrow in the Warwick Credit Union Southern Downs Junior Championships.   Tournament director Nathan Costello said players were travelling from as far away as Mackay and Emerald to play.   "The tournament attracts Australian ranking points for juniors," he said.   "We have players in under 10s, under 12s and under 14s."   A total of 82 players will take to the courts for the weekend - 20 more than last year.   There will be doubles and singles matches.   Play will continue until 7 or 8pm on both Saturday and Sunday nights.   The finals will begin around lunchtime on Sunday.
