Warwick welcomes new citizens
AUSTRALIA Day 2020 is one Kendra Cooper will never forget, officially becoming an Australian citizen.
The Canadian born mother of two has called the Southern Downs home since 2013, a decision she doesn’t regret.
”I was travelling around for a bit but we came here in about 2013,” Mrs Cooper said.
“It’s a good spot to raise the kids, we’re settled in and there is a lot of little mum and bub activities that we go to.
“It’s nice not to have to worry about parking.”
Mrs Cooper was one of seven citizens recognised at the Australia Day ceremony, with new residents hailing from five nations.
It has been no easy feat for Mrs Cooper to get citizenship status, having spent seven years waiting to be approved.
“We started the process at the end of 2013, so I guess it’s been a while coming – you do one stage and then you wait for the next,” she said.
“It’s nice to sort of finally be through it all, the next one is just the passport and starting to vote.
“It’s a very special Australia Day, it’ll definitely be one to remember,”
