West lead the tally in shopping
THE competition has only been running since June 14 but already Warwick West State School has launched itself to the top of the Supa IGA/Warwick Daily News $25,000 schools cash giveaway with more than a whopping 56,000 points.
But it is not alone at the top – Warwick State High School is snapping at the heels in second position.
The way the cash giveaway works is, between now and December 12, each time customers shop at the Supa IGA in Warwick, they will be given the option to allocate “points” to their school of choice within the Southern Downs.
There are 29 schools participating.
The amount of points they can award is based on how much they spend. So if they spend $30, they can allocate 30 points to a school.
Supa IGA owner John Hyslop said the promotion had started exceptionally well.
“I have to say this has been very, very popular and 99 per cent of customers are choosing to participate,” he said.
“This program has been very successful. When we started we had 25 schools registered and I think there has been four more register since then.
“We haven’t put a sunset clause or rule in there for schools to nominate.”
At the end of the promotion, the points will be tallied and the school with the most points will get the largest chunk of the $25,000.
“Say one of the schools generates 15 per cent of the total points calculated, they will get 15 per cent of the $25,000,” Mr Hyslop said.
“The option is there. Every customer who comes in has the option to nominate the points.”
