Warwick workshop uncovers budding Spielbergs
PEOPLE of all ages and abilities have come together for a film making workshop at Warwick Art Gallery.
Run by Southern Downs Regional Council the workshop was open for anyone interested in learning how to shoot, edit and produce short films.
Warwick-born film maker Elliot Spencer was at the helm of the two-day course to teach participants how to create their own films.
He said the workshop, presented as part of the In the Bin component of the Queensland Travelling Film Festival, was an opportunity for people with a disability in regional communities to get a taste of film production.
"I'm a film maker based in Brisbane and have been involved in film workshops and festivals previously and I'm just doing this as a one off as I grew up in Warwick," Mr Spencer said.
"On the first day we'll be producing the films, and have spent an hour discussing the ideas this morning.
"On the second day they'll be edited and presented to the whole town."
The student-made films will be presented among other Australian films in a showcase screening at Warwick Art Gallery tomorrow night.
Mr Spencer the workshop gave budding film makers the creative freedom to produce their own films from start to finish.
"The nice thing is we let them come up with the ideas themselves and the films can be anything they want," he said.
"These ones will be two documentaries - one on the demented artists group and the other will be based on the Lion King with some costumes and props involved."
Warwick residents are welcome to attend the screening at Warwick Art Gallery from 5.30pm.
