Warwick XI will rely on Ryan in Davis Shield
CRICKET: Dave Walker will rely on batsman Andrew Ryan in the Davis Shield final against Lockyer at Slade Park on Sunday.
Last Sunday, Lachlan Gross scored 121 out of the Warwick 8-257 in a win against Lockyer but Gross will be playing Mitchell Shield on Sunday.
Ryan, James Kurtz and Caleb King are the players in the Davis Shield side who didn't play last weekend in the 212-run win against Lockyer.
Tom Bourke has also gone up to Mitchell Shield.
Bourke is an accomplished pace bowler but Ryan will be able to take his place in the bowling attack.
"I will be stressing to the players to forget about our performance last weekend,” he said.
"Andrew Ryan scored 76 last weekend in club cricket so will be a key with the bat as we won't have Lachlan to rely on.”
Last year, Warwick lost the Davis Shield final to Toowoomba after only scoring 84 runs at Heritage Oval and Walker won't want a repeat of that innings.
With rain forecast, Warwick officials will cover the wicket if needed.
If the game is a washout, it will be replayed. If the final starts and is washed out, Walker said Warwick would win the shield as the highest placed team.
