Warwick's creative forces join to make wearable art
WHEN creative minds join forces there's no limit to what they can achieve and the same can be said for mixing fashion and art.
For members of the committee behind Warwick's Fashion Arty event, creativity is at the heart of everything they do.
As momentum gathers ahead of the big event in September, committee members have been hard at work planning outfits and putting the finishing touches to the event.
Fashion Arty committee member Dorothy Devine said inquiries had started coming in about entering the event.
"We've had inquiries coming from locally and around Queensland," she said.
"Entries have to be assembled, designed and made by the artists.
"Last year we had 80 entries and we'd like to keep this year at around that number."
This year the parade will consist of four sections - wearable art couture, incredible headwear, fantastic fantasy and upcycle fashion.
A new edition to the catwalk this year will be male models, with artists and designers keen to try their hands at menswear.
The catwalk event will be held on Friday, September 25, from 6.30pm with a static display of the outfits the following day from 10am-3pm in the Vijayadev Yogendra Auditorium at the School of Total Education.
Tickets for the catwalk event are $25.
