Warwick’s newest racing champion

THE Rose City's newest racehorse could end up rivalling Tiddalik and the statue of T.J Byrnes as an iconic figure in the town.

Donated by the Warwick Credit Union, the life-size fibreglass figure of a racehorse will be roving around the region to promote horse racing in the Rose City.

Credit Union CEO Lewis Von Steiglitz said the figure was an absolute beauty.

"We really wanted to support the turf club for the economic benefits racing brings to Warwick," he said.

"The idea is to get the word out to encourage people to come out and support the races."

Warwick Turf Club president Phil Grant said the horse would participate in Jumpers and Jazz and get a run for the Warwick Cup.

Upcoming races at Allman Park include the Killarney cup on June 27, with the Jumpers and Jazz race day on July 25, a TAB Friday race meet on August 21 and the Warwick Cup on October 10.
